R2: Reduce and Reuse - Keeping PV Panels out of Waste Streams

The project aims to identify the problems that can cause the premature failures of modules and investigating the potential of re-use of old modules.

The R2 Project tackles the challenge of PV panels ending up landfill or being shipped offshore by focusing on two key strategies:

• Reduce – encouraging the procurement of higher-quality, longer-lasting panels from the outset.
• Reuse – giving older panels a second life through careful refurbishment and testing.

Collaboration

The project is a collaboration between PV Lab Australia, Dow Chemical, Australian National University and funded through the ACT Government under the Renewable Energy Innovation Fund.
